Dr Mary Bourke graduated from Phillip Institute of Technology (Melb) in 1992, having completed the 5 year full time Bachelor of Applied Science (Chiropractic) Degree.
Prior to this Dr Mary Bourke had completed a Bachelor of Science (Syd Uni) majoring in Anatomy and Physiology.
Since 1992 she has spent time furthering her knowledge in the areas of paediatric and women’s health, with a special interest in pregnancy and cranial and neurological function. Some of the symptoms that people seek assistance for are things such as jaw pain, migraine headaches and dizziness. Mary has also undertaken extensive training in the area of Oral-facial development and breathing dysfunction in children. Oral Myology can be helpful in instances where children have developed poor oral habits such as dribbling, mouth breathing, finger/thumb sucking and it is affecting the way the oral area is developing.
Dr Mary Bourke is a certified practitioner of Sacro-Occipital Technique and is involved with the educational board of this association, and the instruction of this technique.
Dr Mary has three children aged 14, 16 and 18 years, and having her own children has increased her interest in the field of paediatric care and particularly in the area of learning and behavioural issues. This interest in babies and children’s development was the impetus for her starting the Vital Babies Program which has been running for over 8 years.
Every child is unique and therefore no two children will present with exactly the same symptom picture. The assessment protocols used, allow for these individual traits to be identified, so that a personalised program of chiropractic care (and other therapies when required) can be tailored to suit.
At Vitality Junction, we have a wonderful team of skilled practitioners who work with children’s health and development, and if we are unable to provide what your child needs then we can usually point them in the right direction to get the support required.
If you have any concerns about your child’s development then book a time to come and talk to Dr Mary to find out if we can help you to optimise your child’s growth and development.
